For a number of years, I’ve been feeling the “heart strings” pull me toward writing and ultimately writing a blog. But, choosing a unique “moniker” or name that would be both memorable and give an inkling of what the blog would be about, was the most challenging part.

There is a very old nursery rhyme first published in 1805, based on the activity of going to a country market or fair where agricultural produce would be bought and sold. That nursery rhyme is titled: “To Market.”

A well known verse of that rhyme is as follows:

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig,
Home again, home again, Jiggety-jig
To market, to market to buy a fat hog
Home again, home again, Jiggety-jog.”
HOME-AGAIN2[1]

While struggling with the right choice for a blog name, I was out one afternoon, running errands with two of my daughters , who hoped we were done for the day. So one of them asked “Jiggety-Jig?”  This query, in our family lingo, meant, “Are we headed right home?” As I repeated “Jiggety Jig!” to cheerfully  let them know that we were heading directly home, the proverbial lightbulb went on, and I knew that the blog name would be “HOME AGAIN, Jiggety-Jig.”

What I want to do with the Blog and the corresponding Facebook page, is to help provoke thinking (and perhaps study on your part) to choose what is best for you and your home, and to help you  do your best for your home and family, with your whole heart.

I am by nature an “information gatherer,” and, after gathering, do my best to put it all together into an easy to understand format. “HOME AGAIN, Jiggety-Jig” is full of information.  It contains ways to save money, improve your health, and fix real food for your family. Food that is not only good for you, but delicious as well.  Here you will find shopping tips, interior design and craft ideas, spiritual encouragement, helpful hints, and thoroughly researched reports. There may even be occasional book reviews and product recommendations.

Steve and Annie Chapman have written and sung a very poignant song about the home, which is called: “Turn Your Heart Toward Home.” The chorus includes these words:

Turn your hearts toward home,
Turn your hearts toward home,
You’ve been gone so long,
Turn your hearts toward home.”

Since this song is SO meaningful,  we’ve included a link for you to hear it for yourself.

God has shown me over and over again that it was His will to write words that are just for you.  Hebrews 10:24 says “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”

As a Christian Home Economist, Pastor’s Wife, and former Home Schooling Mama, I want to do those things for you. Is it time for your heart to be turned “HOME AGAIN, Jiggety-Jig?”

What an awesome inspiration for a Blog name 🙂 … Mine was inspired by Psalm 139.

I love Psalm 139. This is one section that makes me heart so soft toward the Lord – knowing how very very much he loves me and thinks about me! “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.” Psalm 139:17-18

It surely was a challenge to find a good one that fit! Never knew what a challenge it is for bloggers to come up with a fitting name that isn’t already taken.

Until I started a blog, I thought it would be so easy to create a name. All the ones I first thought of were gone, and BOY was it hard! So glad the LORD helped us pick this one.

Chaya – it really did take some figuring to pick a name. Never had a clue how many possibilities were already taken.

I do love teaching the things I’ve learned.
